Anniversary of Speedy's Passing
On this date, in 2011, we lost Speedy to suicide. Suicide is always a very complex loss. We work in his memory with the hope that others are able to find help, hope, and healing. Be a champion for mental health and suicide prevention in Speedy’s memory.

The Speedy Foundation was Established Today in 2011
On this day, in 2011, The Speedy Foundation filed our paperwork to become a 501c3 Nonprofit organization in memory of Jeret “Speedy” Peterson. This is the 11 year anniversary of our organization.

Happy Birthday Speedy!

SYAB 10 Year Anniversary
Hi there everyone. I am celebrating 10 years since I got recognized for holding the sign "Smile You Are Beautiful" So for that I am creating a fundraiser for the donations that will all go to The Speedy Foundation.
This event will be so much fun with amazing prizes from raffles, silent auctions with amazing music playing. You will be able to check out what The Speedy Foundations does and how much they do for Mental Health.
Please join us on May 9th, 2025 at 8:30 PM for a special fundraiser in support of mental health awareness and resources. This meaningful evening will bring the community together to raise funds, share stories, and promote mental well-being for all. Your presence can make a real difference.

Thank you for coming to this page and reading what I am trying to raise money for: the people who need help with mental health.
Mental health awareness is crucial, and fundraising efforts can play a vital role in supporting mental health initiatives. By raising funds for mental health organizations, we can help provide vital resources, such as therapy, support groups, and educational programs, to those struggling with mental health challenges. Fundraising can also contribute to research, promoting greater understanding and innovative treatments for mental health conditions. As a community, supporting these efforts not only helps those in need but also fosters an environment of empathy and solidarity, demonstrating that mental health matters and that everyone deserves access to the support and care they need.
Ten years ago, on May 11th, I got recognized for holding a sign up that said, "Smile, you are beautiful," on Highway 224 in Park City.
"Smile, you are beautiful" was started after I lost a friend, Devin, who changed my life around when he said, "No matter what you are going through, all you need to do is smile because you are beautiful."
So, for this year on May 9th, I am celebrating the day that I got recognized and changed other lives as well as mine, but also bringing recognition and assistance to people who lost their battle to mental health or are going through their battle.
We invite you to make a difference by donating to an important cause that affects millions—mental health. Your generous contribution will go directly to supporting a nonprofit dedicated to providing essential resources, support, and care for those in need. Every dollar you donate will help improve lives, fund crucial mental health services, and provide a much-needed lifeline to individuals facing mental health challenges. Together, we can raise awareness, reduce stigma, and ensure that everyone has access to the support they deserve. Please consider donating today—your help truly matters.

Hope Week
Tahoe Truckee Unified School District’s Hope Squad Programs will be celebrating "Hope Week," during regular school hours during the week of March 10-14, in an effort to raise awareness of suicide prevention and mental wellness.
Hope Squad students have organized "Hope Week” projects across the district to allow for their peers to take part in activities that promote hope; including hope grams, friendship bracelets, give/get hope post it banner, kindness letters , education on coping mechanisms, 988 and resource outreach, hall decorations, music in the schools, and more! This year, students at Creekside Charter School, Alder Creek Middle School, Truckee High School, North Tahoe Middle, and North Tahoe High Schools are very excited to get a visit from Drew Petersen with age appropriate presentations and assemblies related to “Feel It All.”
Outside of our school sites, this week-long, community-wide effort will bring together local businesses, mental health agencies, and local non-profits with the goal of destigmatizing mental health issues and empowering community members to ask for help when they are in an emotional crisis. Join us at a community film screening in Truckee or Tahoe City.
