Happy Birthday, Speedy!

Jeret was born as the youngest brother to Kimmy and Erika on December 12, 1982.

A celebration of Jeret’s life was held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, August 6th, 2011 at the Grace Jordan Ballroom in the BSU Student Union Building.

On this day, in 2011, The Speedy Foundation was founded. We filed our paperwork to become a 501c3 Nonprofit organization in memory of Jeret “Speedy” Peterson.

On this date, we lost Speedy to suicide. We would not learn of his death until July 26th.

Suicide is always a very complex loss. Immediately upon learning of his death we began brainstorming how we could prevent future deaths by suicide and save others the pain we felt in our grief. The Speedy Foundation was imagined.
